Teaching and Research Infrastructures

Our Department has teaching and research laboratories with advanced equipment. Other institutional equipment is available to students at the Wolfson Applied Materials Research Centre and at the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Equipment systems include AES/XPS, XRD, ESEM with EBSD, EDS and mechanical testing accessories, tensile/fatigue measurement equipment, DSC-TGA, SPM, TOF-SIMS, FEG-TEM, SQUID magnetometer, lithography, HRSEM microscope, confocal microscope, zeta potential measurement device, and spectrophotometer. Advanced equipment is also available at the Faculty of Life Sciences and at the Faculty of Medicine, and so are clean rooms. There are also laboratories available at the Micro and Nano Characterization and Fabrication Center, including a clean room containing equipment for photolitography, dry etching, wet processes, and metrological equipment such as profilometer, elipsometer, and XRF.

 

Our learning and research infrastructures include large libraries with comprehensive literature and up-to-date advanced computing services, accessible from anywhere 24 hours a day. The main library used by the students is the Neiman Library of Exact Sciences and Engineering.
