Call for Tenure-track Faculty Positions (October 2023)

The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) in the Faculty of Engineering at Tel-Aviv University, Israel, invites exceptional faculty candidates to apply for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the senior-lecturer (assistant-professor) and associate professor levels, commensurate with qualifications. This call is open-ended.

 
The department of BME leads basic research in bioengineering and applicative biomedical research in Israel and is committed to outstanding research and teaching. Our research and teaching areas cover the broad field of biomedical engineering, including bio-photonics, MRI and Ultrasound imaging, biological sensing, passive behavioral sensing, tissue engineering, engineering of biomaterials, synthetic biology, biomechanics, image processing, computerized / machine learning in biomedical applications, computational genomics, and more. The department has strong partnerships with different universities, with the biomed industry and with affiliated hospitals in the Tel-Aviv metropolitan area. 

 

The department currently has 15 full-time faculty, 3 active emeritus faculty, and 13 external lecturers from the industry and national research institutes. The growing student body is composed of more than 500 undergraduate students and more than 100 students of advanced degrees. Use our web-site for more information on our BME Department.

 

TAUs department of BME is characterized by a team of young and dynamic faculty members with a significant representation to both genders. A Working eco-system that encourages collaboration and mutual use of infrastructure and facilities. Teaching philosophy is based on a continuing effort to nourish excellent students with deep understanding of basic sciences, methods and algorithms, as well as in system engineering and its interface with human needs.

 

Candidates focus should be the exploration of new approaches in engineering and exact sciences to solve bio-medical problems or the development of new tools for basic-research and for applicative research. Candidates with a strong background in all areas of Biomedical Engineering or in related fields are encouraged to apply. A post-doctoral research experience abroad is strongly encouraged. The successful applicant will be expected to provide high-quality teaching and to develop an externally-funded innovative research program. A degree in engineering is not a pre-requisite, nor is fluency in Hebrew.
