Human and robots irrationalities

Abstract:
This seminar presents the main findings of PhD thesis regarding human and robots' irrationalities. The thesis studies how robots' rationality affects people's decision making and their perception of robots. The objective was to develop a mathematical model for rationality that could generate rational and irrational behaviors. Eventually, to implement the model in robots that can interact with people and examine how it affects their decisions and preferences. This work therefore relies on three foundations: (i) Cognitive Psychology, (ii) Quantum Cognition, and (iii) Social Robotics. In the seminar I will elaborate on the experiments we performed in order to investigate this topic. Finally, I will present a our main findings: how a questionnaire's design affects human irrational decision making, mathematical model that we developed to try and account for these behaviors and how irrational and rational robots affect people decision making.

 

Bio:
Torr Polakow, BSc in Physics from TAU and an MSc in neuroscience from the University of Haifa. Torr is PhD candidate at the Curiosity Lab of prof. Goren Gordon. in parallel he works as an algorithmic engineer at NoTraffic - optimizing adaptive traffic control.
