The Micro Phase and Heat Transfer (MyFET) laboratory is a new and dynamic research center headed by Dr. Herman Haustein. Our research fields directly influence the future of microchip performance and development, as the constant increase of operation speed and the decrease of components size dictate higher thermal loads and stress. For developing new cooling schemes we examine the physics of flow, heat transfer and boiling at the microscale by using advanced high-speed visualization and simulation methods.
We research Rapid Heat & phase transfer and the resulting Multiphase flows:
- Transient free and submerged impinging jets
- Nucleate pool boiling
- Droplet boiling
- Falling wavy films
- Multiphase & reactive flows
